Newton mentions the use of silk as a fabric for lining garments in Fashion in the Age of the Black Prince.

I am wondering what "form" of silk this was? Was it similar to raw silk?

What about silk for hose? or for a cote hardee?

If you have access to a copy of the Museum of London's _Textiles and Clothing_ volume by E. Crowfoot, there is a very extensive discussion of extant silk fabrics from the period, including weight, weave, dyes, etc.
