I'm guessing Chef is in charge of the Burgundians, who is going to be in charge of the English and who else is comming and what kind of impression are you doing and what side are you on?

I'm going to try. I will be bringing the guns if I do. I can be on either side as long as it isn't French.

I'm hoping to be there, yew longbow in hand. I haven't reenacted this time period before, but I have a Mary Rose long bow, so ...

Anyway, this is all pending my not being "between jobs" then as I am now. I'll be making my own soft kit and I have a hauberk of butted maille I could bring (I reenact 17th century Poland). I will likely have soft kit questions as I try to assemble it. My bow is a bit strong (52# (or more)) for play and I'd be happy to carry a borrowed pole arm, etc.

What is the minimum I can get away with for wife & kids (girl 6 & boy 10)?

Hi Dru,

If you can make it, you will make the site owners day - he is an artillery enthusiast. He is also the Town Constable, a Selectman, and a Volunteer firefighter - when I mentioned we might possibly have artillery coming, he lit up with excitement, and said he'd pull the neccessary permits, so's you would be all set up and no worries.

There is a local fellow in Conetticut I'm trying to get to come - he also has some light 15th century artillery.

There are no French, just Burgundians (we are everything from English to Germans, Dutchmen, and Italians), and the English.

So far, I have a man at arms who will be filling in as a armoured halberdier, a mounted crossbowman, an archer or coustillier (depending what he's feeling up to), and a few non-combatants comitted to coming, plus me and the horses. I have yet to hear from half the group, but our Quebec contingent when I last spoke to them said they would come, and that would be one or two more bowmen, plus a lady. We will likely treble the numbers you Mid-Atlantic types see from our group.

People from Grey that are relatively sure they can make it are: Me, Bob & Kass, James & Kim, and maybe Steve. I should remember if Chuck & Diane are, but don't. Will continue to advertise it amongst the membership and provide updates as available.

Dunno about any Warwickians.

The Wife would need a linen underdress, a dress, a pair of turnshoes & some sort of headcovering.

The little girl could get away with a linen underdress & some sort of smock.

The boy should have clothes like adult males: shoes, linen shirt, doublet & hosen, and a hat.

Ideally, the women should also have a overdress and the men ought all have gowns as well.

Hey, Bob & Jenn, what's the typical day & night temps up thataway this time of year?

May in Worcester, MA (central Mass.)
High on Record 92
Average High 66
Average 56
Average Low 46
Low on Record 28

Average Precip 4.3 inches
Ave# Clear Days 6
Ave# Cloudy Days 15
Ave# Partly Cldy 10
Ave# Raindy Days 12
Ave# Days Ovr65F 17

The end of April and May are the random weather months up here. I've seen it be warm and dry. I've also had it blizzard on my birthday two weeks prior to this event. I'd plan on upper 60's (maybe 70) during the day for a high and low 40's at night.

So far, we've had a snow-less year up here so the ground should be reasonably dry and not mud. (Weather permitting.)

I think Chuck said he and Dianna *want* to come but she's going to be eight months pregnant by then and that will really be the determining factor.

Jeff is generally on the money here, but I think the boy is young enough that he could get away with a tunic and chausses instead of a true doublet and hose. The little girl should be dressed like her mother. Ron, if you want to contact me off-list for details, please feel free to do so.

I would be very interested in contacting this group. Could somebody point me to a contact of some sort?

Learning that people are doing 15th C. in my neck of the woods is the best news so far!

Jeff is right Kim and I have the trip penciled in! I assume we can show on Friday? It is about a 7-hour drive for us and I want to leave Friday early and get there early enough to set the tent up

Yes. Bob and I plan to be there at the crack of dawn. If not the night before (we'll have to check with the owner of the site).

Jenn

Hugo, if Bob hasn't sent the info to you, I will 'gently' remind him.

We're interested in coming as non-combatants. We've got mostly 1380-1420 kit, but can make some 1475 clothes by then.

Does the site allow dogs? We'd love to bring the greyhounds (on leash of course)....

We can bring a King Rene pavilion and assorted musical instruments (shawms, harp, hurdy-gurdy, lute, etc.)

Hi Stephen,

I believe they do allow dogs at the site. We have to contact the site owner this evening on a different topic. When we do, I will get a confirmation regarding dogs.

I mean we are bringing horses!

Cheers,

Jenn

The final say is not in on dogs yet. The site owner is out of town this week, so we hope to get a definitive answer for you by next week.

Assuming you still live in Birmingham your actually not out of the way for me to just pick up.

I would end up there around 9-10pm on Thursday night, and drive through the night and get there sometime in the afternoon on Friday. Then start back either Sunday evening or Monday morning and be back at the latest late Monday night or the wee hours of Tuesday morning.

Nothing I can do about getting you time off.

If your in the 6' 230-250 range then I have some spare kit that would likely fit you. Otherwise get in touch with Jeff Johnson and see what they can scrounge up in your size.

Brent
