Hello, my name is Alberto and I'm an Italian re-enactor.

I'm searching some picture, or useful links where I can take some info about Italian civil and military dress for the end of the 14th century and the beginning of the 15th (1380/1420).

I have many books about English, French and Eastern Europe dresses... but all the books I own can give me only a generic overview of italian dresses (until 1350 and from 1435 to 1500...)

Also can someone help me about the materials and colors I have to use? (wool, linen...etc)

Thank You

Ciao,
Alberto

I can't give you web links, but here are some artists and works which have been particularly useful to me, and these should be useful for a search:
Altichiero, Frescoes in Padua, Sant' Ambrogio and the Oratorio di San Giorgio, 1370s and 80s.

Lorenzo and Jacopo Salimbeni, Frescoes in Verona and Urbino, 1410s and 20s.

Frescoes of the four seasons, Castello di Buonconsiglio, Trento, 1407.

Illuminations from the various manuscripts of the Taccuinum Sanitatis, some of which are attributed to the artist Giovannino de Grassi. All North Italian, c. 1380 -1410.

All of these seem to be North Italian, which I suppose reflects my own Bias, although material from the north seems to be more plentiful at that period than elsewhere. Good Luck!
