One of my suppliers has offered me linen 'burlap' in a range of colours at $5 per yard. it is 45" wide and I think there is about 50 yards of each colour. It has a lot of sizing in it but washes up nice and soft.I can't think of anything to use it for but it is so cool I hate to pass on it. If anyone here wants it let me know and I'll buy it for you. Unfortunately he needs to know by tomorrow so act quickly if interested! There are 5 nice historical colours- Lavender (second bath Logwood) Pale woad blue/grey (3rd/exhausted bath) A mulberry/wine in 3 shades 1st, second and exhausted bath tones. Heya Gwen, do you think that this material might be good for doing a lining for a caparison? I have no idea what the burlap looks like, and don't know if it has any similarity to buckram or not, but it is mentioned as part of a caparison in the Howard Household Accounts. I'm still trying to find the page number. Thoughts? Jenn [ 01-24-2007: Message edited by: chef de chambre ]

No, this stuff is way too coarse for a lining. It wouldn't hold up and would catch every single hair. It's so cool that I've been wracking my brain trying to think of what it could be good for but have been so far unsuccessful. I originally thought of little kid pinafores, as it gets really soft when washed and the texture is interesting. However, with no kids around that's not a reason for me to buy any. Maybe tent hangings, i.e. false walls inside a tent? I bet it would be good for that. Basket covers, maybe something to roll a fardel in? Edward, you realize exhaused burgundy is rose pink, right? if you're looking for a murray colour you want the first or second bath shade. Gwen
