ok this guy swears it's originnal!"There are no armourers marks on it at all and my belief is that this is a munitions piece (armour made in large quantities for contract or off the shelf sale) which is why the bevor is attached (to fascilitate quick production and make a one piece unit) . The seller didn't know the country of origin but the more rounded form on this type of helm suggests to me possibly Italian made for the export market. When we worked from this piece we brought it back 10 years to the high gothic angular form of the 1480-90's" here are more links http://www.merctailor.com/originals.php?original_pk=33 http://www.merctailor.com/originals.php?original_pk=34

Boy, that's got to be one of the ugliest attempts at a sallet that I've seen. It rather looks to be a late-Victorian/early-20th Century cheezy decorator, though it's interesting how they almost got the arming nail washers right. Strange. Whatever it is, it sure is ugly! -------------------- "After God, we owe our victory to our Horses"
