Hi all!

Being a rather new participant in this whole medieval thing, I find myself lacking a lot of the stuff needed, and that on all fronts...

As many of you (ok, ALL of you!) know, the price tag for accurate stuff can be quite steep, doubly so since I need to get literally EVERYTHING!

So I was wondering if their was a second-hand market for some of this stuff, and where would be the best place to find these items?

There is a LOT of support for SCA-type stuff (Ebay has tons...), but not for historically-accurate items...

So, are people here willing to let go some of their older stuff (even the less accurate one (hey, it's a start...) at reasonnable prices?

Thank you!!

Try listing some of the things you need, and be sure to include measurements for clothing items. If I have anything on the list that you need,I'll let you know.

Fabric.com has some wool fabric that you might like for hose -- a nice forest green wool melton for $8.95/yard, some nice cashmere/wool blends for $9.45/yard. (First-time customers can get free shipping.)

Fashion Fabrics Club has a larger selection of wools; I'd stay away from the gabardines ("gab") and crepes for hose, though.

Thanks for the links!

I knew about those stores, but I was never sure WHICH type to choose (regarding weight mostly, I knew not to go for knits...)

and I'd like to get a little better price tag... and save a bit on shipping... and broker fees... and customs fees... man, I hate Canada

Can't help with used stuff, but:

The stretchy (when cut on a bias) wool you want for hosen is called "twill". Go for a fairly light weight & wash it in hot water so it shrinks a bit. I thinke there was a thread on the forum coveing hosen wool if you so a search for it.

Kidney pouch isn't too hard to make yourself.

Belt leather can be had from leathercrafters or tandy and a buckle & strap ends from Billy & Charley, Historic Enterprises, gaukler & deveral other places on the net.

Historic enterprises eating knives are a damned good value.
