Good timing, taking pictures today, will probably have them up tonight.

We're on the rondel, but that's going to be a couple of months while we go through development.

OK, there you go. Dominic is modeling his new black silk doublet, cut on my revised pattern.

Stock doublets come with 4 evenly spaced sets of points down the front, sleeve slit to mid-forearm and center front can be overlapped or left open.

I've customized Dom's doublet to be more open center front, played with the spacing and number of points closing the center front, opened the sleeve slit farther up the arm and added an extra set of points, all to better reflect the doublet from the Donne donor portrait by Hans Memlinc.

I should add:

Points are 1/2" from bottom hem, standard.

Rearranged point pattern, ball shouldered "Burgundian" sleeve as well as a smooth-capped sleeve are also available as custom options.

I'm going to try to get a better picture this weekend, as we rushed this and Dom doesn't think it's very flattering.

Just a question for clarification:

I thought the Burgundian ball sleeve was going to be offered as a standard. I am asking as I want to make sure I understand the definition of "custom" in this instance as it usually translates to more than the baseline.

Is this correct?

Burgundian sleeve is a custom option available for additional cost.

"Stock" doublet as described is still $235 as it has been for some time, and is mostly available immediately off-the peg; a doublet with the "Burgundian" sleeve option is +$20 ($255) and requires 6 weeks production time.

Moving point spacing or location, small size alterations, button closure, etc. are generally free of cost and require 2 weeks production time.

Full on "custom" work is for things we don't carry or offer at all, such as a 16th C. doublet, or Norman Tunic. The above described are "custom options" which I have patterns for but don't stock off the peg. I realize it can be confusing, and I apologize.

Not confused just curious. I thought it was going to be a regular option at one point.

Thanks for the clarifying.

Well, actually, if you must know, he's wearing boxer briefs under hose that are a size too small. The VPL (visible panty line) was the other thing he didn't like about the photo....

We'll get better photos before he goes back to England.

Hey, it matters to us fusspots (enn selectivly fussy ones). One of the reasons we wear period undergarments (men and women) is that VPL in hosen shows on men and brastraps show on women.

Ya could just doctor the pic with photoshop.

I could, but I'd much rather get a new photo of him in hose that fit him properly, in proper underwear, and on a day when he doesn't have a horrible cold and look like it.
