Sorry for the Monty Python reference

I was just back on line browsing my favorite groups, as I am apt to do from time to time and noticed a disturbing trend.

Most of my old haunts are gone!?? Jeff and Gwen’s group, the Yeoman Archers and on and on.. Is LH dying here in the Western US? do I need to move if I ever hope to get my fix of anything other than RenFair or SCA?

I pulled out my masterfully made Black Swann doublet and felt a hollow sorrow at the thought that those days had gone. I guess change is the only constant, but it disturbs me to think that LH could not take a foothold in the Western US.

Sigh......

Red Company is gone, but Jeff and I are as active as ever- maybe more, just in a different way!

Our focus now is jousting and tournament culture of the 15th C. We're members of The Order of the Crescent and Chevalier

Here's Jeffrey as Jehan de Haynin, jousting at Kasteel de Haar last weekend

Here he is, waiting to do his thing at the Royal Armouries a month ago:

He was in New Zealand jousting in February, but unfortunately I can't find any photos of that trip online.

We have Knight School here every month, and training weekends between that. We're always building something new, so no stoppage on that front!

Even so, yeah, LH is pretty much a bust here on the left coast. We don't fit the definition of "Living History" as it's used here in the US, so we finally gave up here. Can only bang your head against a wall for so long, ya know?

Like minded individuals are always welcome to come out and play, but honestly we mostly find like minded people other places than the US, so we mostly travel out of country for events. We don't mind, and are very happy.

Sad to hear the band broke up, but Cheers to the rock stars !!!

I’m jealous as hell. Hehe.. but very glad to hear you and Jeff are having such a wonderful adventure!

We only go around this screwed up world once, so grab that ride for all you can and have the most exiting adventure possible!

Well and truly,

CHEERS!!!!!

Amen to the "only go around once" sentiment. That's pretty much why we changed courses- we're re- no li- no aww hell, I don't know *what* we are, but we know we're not salmon, so swimming upstream got really old after 10 years!!

We officially and intentionally disbanded the Red Company, it didn't just "break up". I believe some of the members are still doing history timeline and SCA events in San Diego. If you're interested, I could get you contact info.

We're in the same place as always if you're interested in what we're doing.

Here's a picture from NZ, the Great Lake Tourney, back in February.

I took third place, a chivalry award and rode a very difficult horse. Here I am jousting against Justin Holland of Australia.

"Amen to the "only go around once" sentiment."

Absolutely!!!!

As many times as i've almost been killed in the past few years, when i'm out of LE in 5 days i'm going to really try and enjoy my friends family and hobbies. Life is to fragile and too short to just sit on your butt watching TV.

I've been compling new really nice gear of late for LH/ SCA/ WMA

I'm gonna travel, go to the Higgins, Chicago Museum. Gonna pester Llyod to help me learn to joust. Hit every event and WMA seminar i can possibly afford, visit realtives. Enjoy my son being little and hang out with my wife as much as i can. Ski with my dad and my brother. Eat well, laugh loudly, and love much.

We're even tenatively planning on going to Europe next year. I'd LOVE to find a way to do Tewksbury.

Actually, use this link for Living History UK. This is the new forum. You gave him the link for the old, inactive forum.

Scott, ask on the 1100-1500 forum. If you need help hooking up with a group just let either Thomas or me know and we'll help.
