Hello!

I just found out about this forum on another email listserv, and it looks magnificant!

I've been rather passively looking for a mid-late 13th century reenactment/living history group in the MD/VA/DC area. I'd like it to be as historically accurate as possible, but I think I'll have to take what I can get

I've found the SCA, of course, but are there any others?

Thanks!!

David

The DC area has a large number of medieval re-enactors and several groups, but 13th century seems to be a neglected period for authenticity-based groups. The only one that I know of on the East coast that does 13th C, with authenticity is a group of knights templar spread from GA to MN. As far as I know, none currently reside in the DC area.

If you're willing to go for a bit later period, there's a 14th Century group that has some of the strictest authenticity standards you'll ever see and a couple of good 15th Century groups. If you're interested in them, we can talk or I can pass you the info for POCs.

If you want to go the SCA route... Well, that's your decision to make.

Can you tell me what they're called and where they're located, I'll keep them in mind. I'd rather not switch periods, but it looks like I might have to

The SCA's fine for what it is, but it's just not an authentic living history group.

(chuckle!)

Pieter and I (New England area) had talked about someday of doubling up and doing late 13thC. (My preference is German portrayal.)

It makes an interested difference to 15thC.
