At the risk of making the owners of this board extremely angry with me, I'd like to let all of you know that the future of FireStryker appears to be very much in doubt.I strongly urge any of you who have derived benefit, informtion and/or amusement from this forum to drop the owners a line and tell them so NOW. Email them at jlrr@mindspring.com. The events of the past few days have cast a very dark pall over this board, and the time to speak up has come. I'm a great believer in democracy, so make your voice heard. Gwen

From my point of view, I think perhaps the opposite has happened... That the forum may return to a more professional, respectful and ideas sharing tolerant platforum that it was when I joined. There are wonderful, knowledged individuals that post here that I've learned from. I have been discouraged to view that some will not or do not embrace the concept of what I see the forum being. Thank you to FS, Gwen, Dave, AM, Nikki, and all the others that I have learned from. I want to second what Freidrich said. In the past year I've seen a big change in attitudes on this board. Hope to see things becoming civilized again. I also want to add, that if any of my comments have offended anyone, I am truly sorry--as this was never my intent. Alasdair -------------------- Per Mortem Vinco

At this stage, it seems that what gain we may or may not get from this board is immaterial...if we cannot discuss points of history in a civil manner, this bulletin board will be either eliminated or strictly curtailed. This is a wake-up call...for all of us. I hope we all pay heed to the sound of the alarm.I have found it rather nice to have people who know more of an item than me to point me in the direction to look up the research. It would be unfortunate if such a resource no longer existed. -------------------- Robert Coleman, Jr. The Noble Companie and Order of St. Maurice Those who beat their swords into plowshares end up plowing for those who don't.

There are two types of ignorant people - those who know they are ignorant, and those who don't. All you can do is hope that you can educate the former and ignore the latter. It saddens me to have people who aren't among the ignorant refrain from posting because they feel abused or unappreciated. -------------------- Geoffrey Bourrette Man At Arms

I'm not sure what is needed here -- a vote of appreciation for the valuable offerings of the people on this board? a plea to those with knowledge to keep on posting, and sharing your knowledge? If either or both of these is helpful, then I whole-heartedly offer both. This board is something I look forward to reading regularly, even though I can't always take the time to post my many questions and infrequent contributions. I've found the vast majority of the information here very informative and entertaining. I think we all understand what rules of behavior we tacitly agree to, just by participating on this board. I hope that there will be much less argument and "sniping", but just as much debate over scholarship, as there has been so far. This is the only resource of its kind of which I'm aware. Where else would we turn? We all owe it to each other to stay civil, even when frustrated in our efforts to learn from each other. --Kent

hey all from Anne-MarieI for one am delighted to answer specific questions when I can. I do not, however, have the time or energy (or patience) to deal with the "says who?!" "says me!" game. I sez what I sez, and back it up with primary sources pertinent to the period we're discussing. I welcome conflicting pertient primary source documentary evidence and conflicting viewpoints. I am as always happy to post what my research suggests, but quite frankly, no one has asked anything that I can pretend to know anything about recently! so who wants to know about 15th century food, huh? or agricultural practices in England? or something else I can look up? --AM -------------------- "Let Good Come of It"
