With all of the horror in wake of the events of Tuesday, September 11, 2001, I am absolutely overwhelmed by the show of unity and support amongst the people of this country. I've so often heard people talk down about America, ususally by people who've never left the country. People who have travelled (esp. to third world nations) usually have a respect for our freedoms and way of life. While the tradgedy of the past days events still haunt my memory, I swell with pride in the thought that this great diverse nation can pull together and shine through the darkness. Not only do we need to show our support and unity with what we wear and flying our nations flag, but remember those in our government now making crucial decisions. Let your Congressmen and women and our President know that we are proud of the job they are doing, and that we are behind them every step of the way. Those of our BB friends in Europe can help by letting your government representatives know that you applaud their efforts to support the US. As someone who once served in this nation's military, I swore an oath (as every other American service person has) to defend this nation, and was willing to give my life in that cause. Many people serving in the Pentagon did just that on Tuesday and must not be forgotten. The people at the WTC, just showed up for work on a Tuesday morning, they must not be forgotten. The men and women of the NYPD and NYFD tried to help those in trouble, and many of them gave their lives in the process. They should never be forgotten. We must remember that over the next days, weeks, and months that military action will be taken against the perpetrators of this evil act. Many more Americans will put their lives on the line. We must not lose sight of those who have given their lives in the search for retribution. Rather, it should be a rallying cry...like "Remember the Alamo!" The war against terrorists and terrorist states could and probably will be long and arduous. We cannot let this fall by the wayside. It would dishonor the memory of all who have died in this disaster. We cannot slip back into a nation of lax security. But, we also cannot lose all of the freedoms this country has stood for for over 200 years. Remember the Bill of Rights was written for a reason. If the US has to change its lifestyle so much as to restrict personal freedoms, the enemy has already one. Keep all the victims, their families, the rescuers, and our government leaders in your prayers. I will keep them in mine. The road on which this country now travels is uncharted, and undoubtedly will be bumpy. We must remember to stand together, as ONE NATION, UNDER GOD, WITH LIBERTY AND JUSTICE FOR ALL!GOD BLESS AMERICA!!!! -------------------- Per Mortem Vinco
