Author Topic: This day in History...July22 Jamie & Christine Member Member # 32 posted 07-22-2001 07:20 PM                   July 22, 1499 The Battle of Dornach This was one of the greatest defeats of Emperor Maximillian's troops by the Swiss Confederation during the 9 month Swiss/Swabian War of 1499. The Swiss ambushed the Imperial camp and slaughtered the unprepared Germans. The Germans managed to make a stand which resulted in a two hour long push-of -pike. Swiss sources claim they recieved only 11 casualties while inflicting 3000 casualties to the Germans. ...and in more recent history: Gwen Nowrick was born on this day! Happy Birthday Gwen!
