Just got this in this morning:

Hello there, just thought I'd drop you a note. I'm Rob from Destrier. We had
a busy season this year, with some spectacular events. In particular we did
Kenilworth Castle with one Mike Loads and some ex- Royal Armouries boys.
Since then the skys the limit as far as full contact lance breaking has been
concerned. Indeed we made such a success of Herstmonceux Castle festival
(late august weekend plus a public holiday- a three day tournament) that
they're talking already of it becoming Europe's "open" jousting championship
with £1,000 prize purse in 2001!!! That wekend follows directly from our
regular battle charge at Bosworth (on the actual site) as near a weekend as
can be arranged to the 22 August.. We'd love to have the pleasure of riding
together with you guys, so think about planning a vacation for your group
and your kit!!! We can soon sort you out with a trained horse...

We're revamping our site soon with Y2K event pictures and stuff. Yours is
looking rather smart these days!

As you can imagine, Jeff is wringing his hands and sobbing even as we speak...

Gwen

"Seriously consider it"?? You must be joking.... planning a trip to to UK and participating in a 15th C. event while there DOMINATES our lives. Toby (Capwell, just so we know we're talking about the same fellow) has invited us similarly, as has Mark Griffen et al of the White Company, we have a standing offer with the Medieval Free Company, etc. I'm about to keep my kit in a sack ready to go at a moment's notice. We just need to figure out how to get away from the business without everything falling apart while we're gone!

It's not a matter of "IF", it's a matter of "WHEN". I don't think there is a thing in the world Jeff wants to do more than participate with you guys, and we're working to make it happen!

You and us both Gwen....

Dominic (I think - one of your guys anyhow) had been kind enough to send us an invitation as well. Maybe we should all plan on a big event to go out to - something like the annual Bosworth re-enactment (always wanted to go charging down that hill sahouting Loyaltie me lie! Death to the accursed Tydder! - even if it does end badly.).

Let us know as soon as it goes "Live"!

Do you know what file format the video clip will be in?

Real Media (.rm)
Windows Media Player (.avi)

Greetings to all.

Rob Martin from Destrier again. Just keeping you up on what's going down in England. Weve got more entrants for the Herstmonceux 2001 tournament lined up. Real Flemish and even a New Zealander.
Bosworth is a top gig as ever. Because we use hired film horses (youv'e seen 'em in every Kenneth Brannagh film, Mel Gibson's Hamlet, Highlander etc) we can usually expand our order for horses to add couple more at short enuf notice. Same goes for Herstmonceux.
Just got my new armour from Dave Hewitt at White Rose Armouries. An amazing job in the English style (I got more tassets than I'll ever fit into a saddle!) Some photos will of course be forthcoming on our site.
Speaking of which, the site revamp is up and running. Check out the Bosworth 2000 clip at www.destrier.org.uk I'm the hapless Sir William Brandon. Dom was that year's "Richard III". It's the first use of a breaking lance i've heard of a part of a re-enactment battle charge rather than being used in the more controlled environment of 1 on 1 in the lists.
Anytime you're ready jsut give us a call. It would be an honour to ride with you gentlemen!

Hi Rob,
I am trying to view the Bosworth 2000 footage. I get to the loader page and then nothing happens. There is no indication of the MPEG being loaded.

(I am on a T-1 line so I don't think it's a bandwidth issue)

Jenn
