Nikki, I just looked for but couldn't find the thread where you were discussing how you cooked pies over the fire at MTA using 2 straight-sided pie pans. I am extremely curios about this, and hope you can provide some more info. I have absolutely no doubt that it *can* be done, so I'm not really looking for method info. What I'm curious about is *if* it was done in a "military on campaign" type of situation. I have found so painfully little about what armies actually ate while on campaign, and less yet about how they went about cooking it. Since MOW's cooks did this- and as I understand it won the cooking competition- I was hoping you'd be able to shed a little bit of light, or maybe point me to your sources. Thanks!!! Gwen

The thread is in the 'Recipes' section, it should be around there somewhere. I was not in on the research for the Cooking demo, w/ accompanying documentation packet, at all. Susan Parris did most, if not all, of the work on the documentation for the cooking, so I'd try contacting her for what sources she used. I know she got some potter from England to do the pie plates and other pottery stuff. I assume you've got Susan's email, if not, let me know and I'll email it to you.BTW, for the intent of the cooking competition, we were encamped right outside of York, or some other city near York (i forget), and it was Easter, so part of the presumption, at least for a section of the presentation (the Captain's Easter feast), was that some of the food could be acquired specially from the large nearby town.
