Hi Hale-Not stupid, just uninformed. "Military through the Ages" is a military timeline event held at Jamestown Settlement every year. It was on March 17-18 this year, and I was looking for stories. They have a website at http://www.historyisfun.org/jyf1/calendar.html . There is another military timeline event held at Marietta Manor (what state??) sometime next month called "Marching Through Time". Gwen

Marietta and MTT are both in Maryland (what a great state ), around Lanham, which is maybe 5-10 miles from DC. MTT is not as large as MTA, and is not judged, but many of the groups there also attend MTA (so general standards are fairly high, in terms of authenticity and the like). And usually sometime during the weekend there is a 'multi-century tactical', closed to the public, which tends to be a sort of free-for-all spontaneous 'battle' between all the groups, which is highly entertaining. Its not every day that you get to watch Landknechts loot a bunch of dead ECW guys and steal their cannon, someone in a partial set of plate armor wield an AK-47 (alas, he didn't have any rounds, and was stuck using the bayonet, so a small cluster of ACW youth took him down), before the lone WWI guy kills everyone on the field with a can of mustard gas. The last time I watched it (two or three years ago), they pitted the ACW and Rev war groups against everyone else (Vikings, medieval, and modern). I have some pictures, but was too far off to get good detail, and the mustard gas makes it real hard to make stuff out, but maybe I'll try and scan them and see what happens.
