Not yet,We will get the "Artillery of the Dukes of Burgundy" First, although we will definately get this as well. Have to prioritse though - the first directly relates to what our group does and would have been equipped with, the second is a political topic that I already have material on. -------------------- Bob R.

I recieved my copy of this book yesterday, so I haven't finished reading it all yet. So far, however, it is proving very interesting, writen in an easy to read style but still fairly scholarly and well referenced. Similar in scope to Richard Vaughan's, Charles the Bold, but obviously concentrating on Italian issues. Also another book I recieved recently is Emerson, Catherine. Olivier de La Marche and the Rhetoric of 15th-Century Historiography. The Boydel Press, Woodbridge. 2004. ISBN 1 84383 052 3 This book originated as a doctoral thesis that was expanded and published. It is an analytical look at Olivier de La Marches memoires, covering a number of topics in relation to this such as the memoires as an autobiography, their relationship with the literary culture surounding the burgundian court, their status as didactic literature, etc. Unfortunatley I have not yet read Olivier de La Marche's memoires, which I think would help when reading this book. Also being able to read French is important as the author quotes a lot of passages from the memoires in French (without providing a translation), in order to support her arguments. The author also refers to a number of other burgundian literary sources and the whole work is well referenced. So while it is interesting to read, you would probably get a lot more out of the book if you already have a good background knowledge of Burgundy.
