This was posted over on the Armour Archive, and I thought the info would be especially welcome to this group:

Heritage Archeological Books (in the UK) is selling a number of off-prints of articles on armour originally published in "Archaeologia" The Journal of The Society of Antiquaries of London. I've already bought dozens of off-prints from them and they were in "as new" condition.
http://www.heritageweb.com/

Two of the most interesting ones are:
"The Sanctuary of the Madonna delle Grazie, with notes on the evolution of Italian armour during the fifteenth century." $19

"A Further Account of the Armour preserved in the Sanctuary in the Madonna delle Grazie near Mantua." $12

The search window on their main web page is broken, to search their stock goto:

For those of you interested in 15th century armour, and who do not have those titles, those are excellent articles, and reasonably priced.

I'd highly recommend getting them.

I have to admit, I didn´t expect an online forum in this quality overseas, and I have to apologise for that. I quickly changed my mind after going through the topics.
Yesterday the two Mann- articles arrived, and indeed they are worth much more than those few lousy pounds (got them from heritageweb), particularly "a further account..." includes a big amount of rare photographs, really a must for people seriously interested in armour.
Thanks a lot, here's my little contribution for those looking for armour resources:
Since two years there exists a reprint of Wendelin Boeheim's book "Handbuch der Waffenkunde" from 1890. Written in german, it includes hundreds of drawings of arms and armour. Some parts are really not longer up-to-date, but it's one of the oldest standard books available.web page

Hi Peter, I was wondering what online forum here in europe you have in mind that is also of this rare in-depth quality. Is it Tempus-Vivit? Or some other that I don't know of. Please tell me!

Hello Herman,

Tempus-vivit is in fact the site I thought of. The topics there are more spread, discussing a wider range of time (perhaps a bit focussing on the High Middle Ages). For those interested in one of the leading german sites:Tempus-vivit!

Yes I love to read through the various topics in tempus vivit. Most of it I can understand, but I don't speak or write german good enough to reply. Even my english is rather crude I've noticed. So please bear with me guys, when I sometimes construct sentences that really insult good english grammar and vocabulary.

Most of us are Americans, so don't worry about butchering the English language - we does it as a form of recreation.

Hello all -

Does anyone have an update for this company's web site? They seem to have lost their domain name, and that's certainly a bad bad sign. Have any of you done business with them recently?

Regards

David

I´m sad to hear so. I bought the two books in July from them, and perhaps they had some more interesting stuff for me.
But I´ve got two more adresses where one can find specific literature:Falk Books Switzerland
Theír list is not up to date, but they answer questions within a short time.
Ken Trotman England is certainly more known in the armour scene.

Greetings

Peter

HeritageWeb is now Heritage Marketing and Publications. The URL is http://www.heritagemp.com/

They redesigned the website earlier this year and it is now hosted with a much faster connection in the US. If you haven't been to the website in awhile it's worth a look, the searching, browsing, organization, and ordering is much improved.
