A bunch of us are planning to meet at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York on 13 December, 2003. Times and meeting place to be determined. Watch this space for details.

There is an exhibition of medieval manuscripts that runs from September 30, 2003 until February 1, 2004. If you can't make it with us, find your way there somehow. This isn't to be missed. Here's a blurb about the exhibition:

This exhibition will present to the public for the first time the magnificent collection of Italian illuminated manuscripts formed by Robert Lehman (1891b 1969). On display will be 101 single leaves and cuttings and two bound volumes, ranging in date from the 13th to the 16th century and covering the major centers of manuscript production in Italy. Among them are works by some of the most famous names in Italian painting, such as Duccio di Buoninsegna, Stefano da Verona, and Cosimo Tura, as well as visually stunning examples by leading figures in the history of Italian manuscript illumination. Accompanied by a comprehensive catalogue of all the pieces formerly in the collection.

For further details, please see the Met website: http://www.metmuseum.org/home.asp

Hey all,

is this a day trip or are we planning to stay in NY for a weekend?

I know that Bob (mine) and I are probably going to stay the weekend.

Maybe we can hit midtown for a bite at Jekyll and Hyde's.

Bob (mine) and I will probably be up for dinner, but we're going to return home that evening. NYC is only an hour away and hotel rooms are too expensive.

If any of the more Southern people would like to stay at our house, we have quite a bit of extra room.

BUMP!

Hey, let's get a headcount, figure who's coming from where and establish details.

Let's do this off-line. Please RSVP to me at the address on my profile and I'll put you on the list.

Quirk of the system. The address on the profile doesn't show. Privacy feature, I suppose. Just Private Message me, then.

I live in Long Island, about 20 minutes outside of NYC, and would love to meet up with the people who are going.

We're out.

Was slapped down by the heavy hand of flu in November and just when I thought I was over it... now have a nasty head cold. (It's the gift that keeps on giving.)

Because both of us have missed some days at the office, we just can't make the trip at this time. Sorry everyone.

Ah well, we'll have to start discussions regarding planning the spring events some other time.
