OK, I know this is probably way too short a notice, but I would like to make the folks here aware of a nice little event we have every year here in Norfolk, VA. It's called History Alive! and takes place at the Norfolk Botanical Gardens (a lovely setting BTW) on October 4,5 and 6. It's a timeline sort of event with groups typically ranging from early medieval to WWII era. We get lots of school kids visiting on Friday and lots of other visitors all weekend. The Garden provides firewood, straw, water, etc. and there is a big potluck supper Saturday night with the garden providing the bulk of the food and the reenactors bringing additional dishes. The staff are very helpful in providing for whatever special needs the reenactors may have and are trying to make this event better each year. I'd really love to see some of the awesome groups that frequent this forum attend if you can squeeze it in. If not, consider it next year. I will be there with my fledgling 14th century group as one of only three "medieval" groups this year. You can contact the organizer, Mr. Daniel Hayworth at 757-441-5830, ext. 352 or email me directly at androu3@cox.net if you are interested. Thanks, Matt Anderson

Hi Brent,
We call ourselves The Company Of The Golden Star. We portray a mercenary company of mostly English HYW vets who now operate in northren Italy. I portray the Captain of the company, Miles Hill, a poor but ambitious man at arms trying to ply the only trade he knows. We have placed ourselves around 1361, soon after the Treaty of Bretigny but giving us enough time to have raided our way across France into Italy where we hope to sell our services to one of the wealthy Dukes, perhaps Savoy or Milan (or anyone else who will pay well. BTW, if there are any Italian speakers out there, how would you translate our name? Would it be "Comativa La Stella Da Oro"? How about "L'Azienda Della Stella Doratta"? Or are those both wrong? Thanks, Matt
