Hi Eric,

What a very nice piece.. I'm a litle bit jalous!!! Is It Your first-one raising helmet? Have you got a picture of the original, or more details of the origin because it's very nice shape..

My first one was not so good than yours..

Pierre-Yves.

PS How must I do for showing picture on this forum?

Hi Pierre,

It needs to be on the web already, then put the location between [IMG][/IMG], and it will show as a picture in the thread.

Excellent helmet Eric, il fait très beau!

I would like to make some suggested changes though. First use 16 ga, or 18 if it won't rip. Then keep the rounded top going in a nice curve. Dont have any eye slots or holes in the sides. Finally flip it over and put a metal bail on it to hang it over the cook fire.

What would you charge for a plain raised, unpolished Kettle?

Sorry Eric, I meant a cooking kettle. I have since found an easier one that fits from 12thc to late 15thc. This from the _Medieval Household_ book. It is 350mm dia. at the rim. The handle and rim support are of iron and I believe the body is copper alloy. But you can see it is very thin metal, probably 18g or 20g. Since you are able to raise helmets from a single piece and most other helmets made are done with a welded seam, I wondered if you would be interested in making one, and how much you would charge. Though $1,500.00 for a cooking kettle is too much.
