Here are some photos taken by Tom Justus of me modelling the new cuirass he's been making for me. I seek the comments and opinions, and hopefully the approval, of you folks on its appearance and general accuracy for use in a Living History (c.1450-1480) setting.

For the record, Tom Justus only did the cuirass, the legharness and armharness and helm being done by other folks, mostly Patrick Thaden. The arms are not pictured, as I still have them apart, in the process of being strapped.

Pretty cool, man. Recognize it's still rough, but it looks like it'll be sweet when it's finished. I'd not be ashamed to stand next to you.

Not an armorer, but I have suffered through the agonies of misfit parts, so here are some fit suggestions:

I like the back and upper BP fit - looks nice and tight to the body. The waist should conform closely to your waist all the way around. Can't tell exactly, but that belly looks like it sticks out a fair bit from your own (globose). Think about pushing the placate in towards your belly and sternum quite a bit - unless your belly is really that shape. You don't need a "bowl" over your stomach. The edges of the placate ought to be touching the breastplate with no gaps along the entire surface.

Will there be a fill plate at the back of the neck?

Front attaches to back with straps at the shoulder and belt at the waist? Or are those hinge holes under tha left arm?

How's the fauld going to be mounted? it looks like it's prepped for rivets, but would leather be better?

When finished, will the lower edge of the knee plates fit tight to the greaves? Will there be pins on the front of the greaves?

The plackart appears to fit poorly in the pics because it's held on with duct tape. Once it's strapped, it will ride properly. My own stomach is pretty flat.

Yes, the backplate gets a fill plate. and yes, those are indeed hinge-holes.

While it looks like it's set up for having a rivet articulated fauld, it will be on internal leathers once it's done. I don't know why the armourer chose to use rivet-holes for the test-assembly. When I spoke with him today, he said he's got the hinges on now and it opens and closes perfectly. I'm not too worried.

The poleyns will site better once I get them strapped better. I need to add a strap that goes behind the knee and holds them more snugly against my leg.
