Greetings all,

Is anyone aware of anyone out there making 15th C. arming doublets? I know Gwen has done them in the past, but my understanding was that it wasn't a usual item for her. Is there anyone else doing them commercially?

Best regards,

I don't know if she specifically has made *15th* century arming doublets, but my 14th-century pourpoint was made by Traci Justus (the wife of Tom Justus, the armorer), and it's very nice. If you're interested, let me know off line and I'll send you contact information.

Um, this probably isn't much good to you if you're in the US, but Debbie Lough is the person who's done the arming doublets for the armouries in Leeds.

She isn't cheap, and has a long order list (I ordered from her in march, and got a delivery date in August!), but if it's good enough for the Royal Armouries, it's difficult to find a better recommendation.

If you like, I can dig out her e-mail for you?

Neil

Since I am in Germany, and close enough to the lady, I would ask you to provide me with the email address as well. What did you pay for your doublet? Would you happen to have a picture of it handy?

Thank you

Sebastian

I have a heavy regular doublet from Angela. Well made. Some machine stitching (but not visible).

Christian, I can bring it with me on the 20th if you want to see it as an example.

As to another commercial source, the only other arming doublet I've seen on the web was from Valentine Armories.

Peter
