Hi All,Jeffrey sent me some smashing new pics of my cuirasse & arms in progress, and I thought I would share. I won't bore you with details unless you ask, as I've covered the ground of what it is supposed to be before. I'll just let the pics speak for themselves, to show you all that we Yanks have master armourers here in the States as well. Enjoy. Looking great, bud.Is the breast going to be riveted? You have that laminated back that ought to help if suspension is the goal. Likewise on the fauld - rivetted or on leather? The square chalked on the Breast is lance rest? Can't wait to see it finished. Will probably be visiting HE in a couple of weeks and I'll sure to put fingerprints all over it. -------------------- Geoffrey Bourrette Man At Arms

Hi Jeff,Yes, the chalk is marking out a lance rest. The tassets & cullet will be carried on leathers, the breastplate is riveted. Am unsure of the faulds as I have never seen a backside shot of the harness. Jeff will know, I'm sure. -------------------- Bob R.

Breastplate will have a slotted rivet in the center and internal leathers on the sides. Backplate will be riveted a little on the loose side for flex, but will not be sloppy.Fauld and culet lames (except the removable culet lame) will have slotted rivets on the sides, the top lame being pivoted only, with internal leathers just outside of the centerline front and back.

Hi Otto,Unless Jeff is being extemely generous and not telling me about it, the harness is mild steel. I will eventually have him make a set of exchange pauldrons in high carbon, and possibly ditto to a set of vambraces. For now though, it is mild. The breastplate is I believe 16 guage, and the backplate 18. -------------------- Bob R.

Ah, sliding rivets - wonderful things. About how much travel, Jeff?I'd like to eventually have some high-carbon steel armor as well, but don't see it happening soon. I'm happy enough that the harness is about to be complete. I've thought about the order that I'd get the parts done and have come to the conclusion that the breast would be first. It's th part that gets scratched up the most. Pauldrons, bevor and placate all rub against it and it's right up front.
