The book seller Heritage Archaeological Books in the U.K. bought the remaining stock of offprints from the Society of Antiquaries of London. An offprint is an article that was originally published in a journal (in this case "Archaeologia") that has been printed as a separately bound booklet. If your looking from any of the articles on armour listed below they currently have them instock at a small fraction (£4 to £9 each) of what you would normal have to pay a book seller for them. I've already ordered about 15 of them and they arrived in new condition. They have many other articles from Archaeologia as well, however they are sold out of "On Italian Armour from Chalcis in the Ethnological Museum at Athens" by Charles Ffoulkes 1911 vol.62.

"Armour from the Rotunda, Woolwich, transferred to the Armouries of the Tower, 1927" by Charles Ffoulkes; 11 pages of text with 2 figures + 4 b/w plates; Published 1928 Vol. 78 pages 61-72
(£4.00)

"Some Aspects of the Craft of the Armourer" by Charles Ffoulkes; 16 pages of text with 21 figures + 2 b/w plates; Published 1929 Vol. 79 pages 13-28
(£6.50)

"Notes on the Armour of the Maximilian Period and the Italian Wars" by James G. Mann; 27 pages of text with 2 figures + 17 b/w plates; Published 1929 Vol. 79 pages 217-244
(£5.50)

"The Sanctuary of the Madonna delle Grazie with notes on the evolution of Italian armour during the 15th century." by James G. Mann; 25 pages of text with 15 figures + 14 b/w plates; Published 1930 Vol. 80 pages 117-142 + plates
(If your interested in 15th century Italian armour this is must at £5.50)
(£5.50)

"Notes on the Armour worn in Spain from the tenth to the fifteenth century" by James G. Mann; 20 pages of text with 9 figures + 15 b/w plates ; Published 1933 Vol. 83 pages 285-305
(£7.50)

"Notes on the Evolution of Plate Armour in Germany in the Fourteenth and Fifteenth Century " by James G. Mann; 28 pages of text 9 figures + 15 b/w plates; Published 1934 Vol. 84 pages 69-97
(£8.00)

"A further Account of the Armour preserved in the Sanctuary of the Madonna delle Grazie near Mantua" by James G. Mann; 40 pages with 71 figures + 32 b/w plates; Published 1937 Vol. 87 pages 311-351
(If your interested in late 15th century Italian armour this is a must have at £9, however they may be sold out of this soon if not already.)
(£9.00)

"The Silvered Armour of Henry VIII in the Tower of London" by Claude Blair; 53 pages of text with 10 figures + 25 b/w plates; Published 1965 Vol. 99 pages 1-56
(£8.00)

These offprints sound great! I emailed the guy twice about availability of several of the books, but I haven't had any response yet. Craig, what kind of turn around did you get ordering your stuff? Did you call in your order via phone or email, if you don't mind my asking. I'm trying to get a feel for how long this could take without actually calling overseas. Thanks!

Sir Dan,

Sometimes it takes a few days to get a response, plus with Good Friday and the weekend I won't think that's unusual. I send my orders by email and then call him with my credit card information. If you have him send your order by air mail you should get it in about 2 weeks.

Craig,

Thanks for the info. I finally got an email from him. I sent a second, adding more titles, but have not heard back on that one yet. I hope I do soon, two of the prints were in stock according to his email. I would hate to miss them, but I'll chance it to get all of them.
