Details: Soper Lane is a private group which portrays the lives and work of the 15th century London silkwomen; women who made and sold silk narrow wares and small goods. These women traded independently of their husbands, took on apprentices, and dealt directly with both the merchants from whom they bought their materials and their clientele.

Our events include costumed living history, demonstrations and talks. Our research is continual and on-going; our website includes forums, articles about various aspects of medieval silkwork, as well as information about the silkwomen themselves.

As a private group, we are not currently accepting new members, however, our Friends' Newsletter is available for those who wish to learn more about this little known aspect of medieval life. (sign up at our website).
