hey gang!
here's some photos some friends took of us doing our thing at an SCA event. you can tell its an sca event because of several clues...
1. the helpful man in the tunic really wanted to learn how to cook over an open fire. so we let him turn the chicken. he did a good job, in spite of hsi rather outlandish attire...
2. our neighbors green directors chair in photo #7. *sigh*....
3. One of our new recruits cant get over the fact that ALL her hair, especially the modern bits needs to be covered up!
4. Photo #5 is a good shot of the look I gave the photographer (a good friend of mine ) when I saw that she was taking our picture using a camera in our camp. hmph!

we have fun, really!
enjoy,

Cool Pics AM, thanks for sharing.

It's amazing what can be done with a little judicially applied Adobe Photoshop to remove offending objects, such as directors chairs.

Has anyone explained the "braid thing" for the unruly hair? Maybe she assumes that if the braids are showing from underneath your headcloth that it is ok for her to have unbraided hair show or it could be that she has seen some painting showing women with hair showing underneath a headcloth and thought it was acceptable. Just a thought.

Re: the hair thing-

It's a common problem that I see ALL the time- modern women do not like to cover their hair. In modern society, a woman's hair defines who/what she is, and most women spend a huge amount of effort on making sure their hair looks good. To cover it over completely is just too much to ask.

I have women rent the 15th C. V neck gown and then flat out refuse to wear the escoffion because it covers their hair. Either that or they wear it with their hair showing, like the girl in the photo. Heck, there's a photo in "The medieval Soldier" of a girl who's wearing a kerchief hippie-style, so that her hair shows.....

In this case, I think this gal will eventually realize that her hair isn't appropriate, that she doesn't "look like the pictures". It will just take time and exposure..... *sigh*

Gwen sez:

yep. in this case, its a new "recruit". the scary thing is that a week before the event I got my hair cut into the exact same very modern hair style she wears. So now I'm hoping she'll put two and two togher....if AM can do it,so can I....

I have every confidene in the process of slowly bending everyone to my will....
