Does anyone know where I might be able to find the six published proceedings of the North European Symposium on Archaeological Textiles (NESAT)?

Hey Gwen,

Go to www.google.com

Type "North European Symposium on Archaeological Textiles" in the search field.

A whole bunch of links show up for this symposium. Too many for me to browse through to see if there are any links to obtain copies, but I am sure they are there. I saw one listing that gives an ISBN number for the 1999 symposium, so there are bound to be others.

Hope this helps.

Jenn

Curious ... I was looking at some of these details only last week!

Also there is a list of work form the Journal on Dyes in History and Archaeology which might be of interest ...

They are all published in different places, depending on where the conference was held. One of them are available from the university of Gothenburg (Sweden):

Jorgensen and Rinaldo. Textiles in European Archaeology; report from the 6th NESAT Symposium 1996 in Boras. GOTARC series A, vol 1.

In recent websurfing, I came across the "Textile History" publication put out by the Pasold Research Fund in Leeds. It is a treasure trove of fantastic information, and I am currently in the process of obtaining past issues through the publisher, and copies of out of print articles through a friend. I recently received a copy of the article on the weaving of frilled edges written by Stella Mary Newton and it was fascinating.

Any of these will be a bit dry for the average garden variety enthusiast, but are a wealth of arcane information for the serious student or researcher.

Gwen -
Can I get a copy of this article or at least a cite on it so that I can track it down?

Thanks,
mitake.

Mitake-

I had planned to give you a copy of mine. Give me a couple of days to get my act together and I'll send it out to you.
