Author Topic: Why is the rose the flower of England? hauptfrau New Member Member # 0 posted 09-24-2000 04:21 PM                Just got this today- I can't answer it, can anyone else? ------------- Hi there- We really do need some help. National Day is about to descend on our International school in Singapore and I along with several other mothers have the job of organising the British display. I have the job of organising the National flowers of each country. Scotland (thats easy as Im scottish anyway), England, Ireland and Wales. Guess what! I cannot find the reason behind the Rose being the flower of England. I know about the war of the roses but I am sure that the Rose came into being earlier with Henry III. Can you help us? The last thing I want to do is display some history but get it wrong. I suppose I have the excuse of being Scottish but I really am curious about the Rose. Any information would be really helpful.
