I'm trying to find more specific information and images of gorgets in use from around 1515 to 1535, German, Swiss, or Italian. I want something that's accurate for the period, functional, and good looking, for rapier fencing.

I've read that at some point during the 16th century that it became fashionable to wear fancier gorgets as a costume accessory. Was this during my time period? I've searched the web for 16th century paintings depicting this but have yet to find one.

I've also read somewhere that German armor of my chosen time period had wide collars and were worn under the breastplate which typically had very low collars, kind of like a waffenrock with a low cut, square neckline from what I gather. Is this true?

Any information would be greatly appreciated.
