as you can tell i'm clueless, my only point of reference is the SCA. Tried Regia US but it never caught on here.

My wife and i are both wanting to play.

Is there a sorce for womens clothing? I see HE has 15th C which we wanna try.

What a lot of people do for sleeping is make a "giant, hand sewn, fold over pillow case" (aka-mattress ticking) and stuff it with Hay at an event (if available). Others use a futon mattress and place the ticking over it.

Mess kits: Bowls, trenchers, spoons, knives

• Robin Wood (UK) museum quality, turned on an authentic pole lathe. Gorgeous stuff, pricy.

Cooking gear: This is a tough one
I think the best source is in the UK for metal cookware. I've not found a similar source in the US. Shipping will "kill you".

Camping Equipment:

• Tents: Past Tents UK, Tentsmiths (US), Some folks use Panther primatives, but most use the first two.
  
• Lanterns/candle holders: HE They used to have a big lanthorn, but I don't know if they carry it any more. The small brass ones are good.
  
• Candles: I'll have to see where we got ours, they aren't modern ones and they're hand dipped.
  

Merchants at events: Short answer, sometimes. Depends on the event and who's going.

Women's clothing: HE's package is a great place to start for women's clothing.

A lot of people also make their own once they've studied the subject for a while.

Prior to the 15th Century is out of my scope. So I can't help you there.
