Has anyone ever seen any source depicting "strewn rushes" on any floor? The only evidence I have ever seen of rushes is a form of neat, woven mat (made of river rushes)almost exactly like the seagrass matting imported from indonesia. I am getting very tired of the public impression that rushes were essentially hay or straw strewn all over the floor. Not to be confused with "sweet herbes and flowers" strewn onto the rushes to scent the room.
