Well tourney/camping season is approaching and I have the funds to trash my coleman and buy a period(ish) pavilion for my timeframe which is currently 1403 England. Any ideas as to which type would be best suited for one person with armour and the usual camping stuff?

Round pavillions seem to be all the rage.

I would suggest either Past Tents (UK: they have a US provider through Brian Price: Past Tents American I think) or Tentsmiths in Conway NH.

We have "the Burgundian" from Past Tents and think it is very nicely crafted, relatively simple to put up (with 2, better with 3 people), and a good value for the dollar (poles, ropes, finials, and wooden stakes inclued in the price of the tent). Shipping/customs fees from the UK will run abut $270.

We have also seen and experienced Tentsmiths.

Tents from both tent makers are very roomy.

I am not overly familiar with Panther Primitives, but they have a nice selection of paints to decorate your tent when you get it.

Also, depending on what size your bed, boxes and stuff are, 13 feet in a pavilion is bigger than most people think.

We like the "spoke design" of the Past Tents. Makes it easy to store stuff above head or hang curtains for dividers.

Hope this helps.

Just don't forget to take into account the center pole! Or poles if you prefer the wedge design!
