I was surfing a bit tonight, looking for info on poesy rings when I came across a site that had some really nice stuff. Mixed in the with usual assortment of weird SCA/RenFaire stuff, this seller had some unexpectedly nice (and documented!) rosaries and rings. I'm especially intrigued by the rosary rings, and wonder how prevalent they were.

See the poesy ring page here: http://home.sprynet.com/~gipsyped/rings.htm

I've seen other folks carry rosary rings (sometimes called "decade rings") -- Museum Reproductions, which does mostly coin and some TMS repros for reenactors & museums, has a more primitive-looking version (16th CENTURY ROSARY RING, a rare and unusual artefact).

There's a brief paragraph on the 16th century rosary rings in an article on The Medieval Rosary, but it doesn't have a bibliography or suggestions for additional references. Maybe the folks on the Paternosters mailing list might have some sources they could recommend on the subject.
