Brother Geoffrey won't be at our next event, so I'm anticipating a serious dearth of entertainment. To fill the gap, I thought I would bring some stories- even if I have to read them off of a sheet, it will be better than nothing.I have a few favorites from Boccaccio, but does anyone have any other appropriate ones that they'd care to share? I'd appreciate have a few new ones to add to my repertiore... Thanks! Gwen

Hi Gwen,What you need is the "cent nouvelles" (I'll go look it up to be sure). It is a series of mostly dirty or humourous stories (or combinations of the two) on the order of the Decemarion. It was commissioned by Philip the Good, and the stories are entirely based in Burgundy and the Low Countries. Best yet, the stories use people who actually existed as the protagonists in many cases. It may have even been translated into English at some point, as it is considered the apogee of Valois Burgundian literature (which is considered to be the weakest art, while Music is considered to be one of the strongest under the Valois Dukes). Maybe Jenn can find out if there has been an English translation. -------------------- Bob R.
