Here is the deal:

I have destroyed the tang and pommel of a longsword due to tragic failure from Mortschlag etc. I can rebuild this thing into a bastard-sword, as substantial and workable tang still exists. I know how to do that. I have done similar before. I need neither advice about that, nor preaching against that, and so forth. I use my weaponry and now I must fix said weaponry. What I need is an item for doing that -- one new pommel. Yet finding said item is proving impossible.

What I want is a wheel-pommel or maybe scent-stopper pommel; of 1.5 to 2.0 inch diameter / length; with a 0.25 inch hole drilled thorough center; made of steel, or maybe brass or bronze. Plain and simple.

Yet nobody -- nobody -- is willing to sell me that. I do not want such a thing with "a 7/8 inch hole for use on rattan staves in SCA martial activities". I do not need some guy named after a miacid to sell me such from a web-site that has a bunch of broken links. I do not want something with a "taping fork" splaying out of it. I do not want something of aluminum, pewter, titanium, uranium, whatever etc.

This is not an unreasonable thing to ask. Yet for some bloody reason, it seems so when one peruses the InterWeb to seeking such.

Any useful reasonable ideas are appreciated.

Alrighty -- resolution found :

Albion had a thing quite acceptable called "Mild Steel Cocked Hat pommel blank" that I ordered today, part of Moat Sale, only $10.

My thanks to all who endured my ranting query.

BLTN

Next time you can go to a steel plant and buy their 2 inch round rod by the length. A one inch length would be inexpensive. Then all you would need to do is drill the hole through it, file the faces smooth and mount it on the sword.

I think there are also some vendors who make custom pommels. Darkwood Armory might be one. Glad you found something acceptable, though.

I did find a decent pommel -- however, you both have useful ideas, and I shall check into those, as especially dics / wheel pommels are also desirable. Thanks!
