Welcome.

I was always fascinated in culture of medieval times, from about five years I'm a member of re-enactment group. Since August last year I started to reproduct some elements of medieval aromours.

I would like to sell a reproduction of XIV c. hourglasses which I produced. There are made of coldrolled sheet of steal of 1,5 mm thickness. The metacarpal and cuff are weld together into one piece. All is polished but not for mirror finish. Gauntlet are new, I finished them few days ago. I was follow the example of one of the gauntlets from Bargello Collection. The last picture show some measurements of the gauntlet. I will sew in leather glove for free.

Here are links to photos: http://img76.imageshack.us/img76/7988/klepsydrabargellouo2.jpg http://img76.imageshack.us/img76/7181/klepsydrabargello2kt0.jpg http://img76.imageshack.us/img76/3808/klepsydrabargello3tu5.jpg http://img76.imageshack.us/img76/5377/klepsydrabargello4cm2.jpg http://img76.imageshack.us/img76/4267/klepsydrabargello5mt6.jpg http://img76.imageshack.us/img76/6455/klepsydrabargello6ue9.jpg http://img76.imageshack.us/img76/8865/klepsydrabargello7ef7.jpg http://img76.imageshack.us/img76/276/klepsydrabargello8uc4.jpg

Are you sure those finger measurements are correct?

Yes those measurements are correct. Is there any problem with them?

Hi,

"I was follow the example of one of the gauntlets from Bargello Collection"

Do you have an image of the one they base one? What is it dated to, exactly?

Does it also have a cuff made of two parts (with this small part rivetted to the cuff on the bottom)?

Here it is: http://img457.imageshack.us/my.php?image=klepsydrywj7.png

Those gauntlets are dating from second half of the XIV. I admit that I mainly follow the example of metacarpal-the way of embossing. I also omit the brass elements. The cuff of Bargello gauntlets is also closed: http://img381.imageshack.us/img381/4541/bargellobackml6.jpg

Becouse the gauntlets from Baregllo are without retain fingers I was follow the example from some gravestone.

After having compared them: nice work, Piotr. And a good price, too.
Although I would have made the lines from the fingers more narrov near the end (more like a "V"), if it was planned to be closer to the original (the curburg and nuremberg ones also do have the lines more centered near the end).

Lovely gauntlets, accurately done too! I was questioning the length of the fingers because my 'little finger' is not as long as my middle finger. It just looks to me like the lengths given for the fingers are mirror reversed. I guess I have weird length fingers
