I can only think of two, anyone else think of any others?

Age 1: At 17, all you need for a weekend is two plastic bags, one with some kit and sleeping bag; the other four cans of lager, a train ticket, £20 and a cigar.

Age 2: 20 years later, you have four boxes of kit for yourself alone, you need an estate car (or preferably a small truck) to get you and kit to events and you can't get through an event without spending the equivalent of a small country's annual budget.

Did I miss anything?

Definitely fall into the AGE 2 category.

Last event we went to we had:

1 GMC quad-cab, full bed pickup truck packed to the gills with Tents (2) one Past tents Burgundian and one double bell wedge; Poles; bench, bedding, large medieval standard (trunk), armour, pole weapons (5), 4 people, soft kit, cookware, and other stuff.

We're looking at what we need realistically.

The next car we buy will determined by it's capability to either haul horses, or carry one man-at-arms stuff.

oh, and we tend to spend the annual budget of a small country in preparation for an event.

I've been known to spend it just getting there - motorway service stations proving the highway robbery is still alive and well...

It really depends on the portrayal.

As a 19th century artillerist, if it don't fit onto my Grimsley, it ain't a-goin with me, and I still sleep on the ground, with poncho and two blankets.

It is as a Burgundian juniormost officer that I (we) carry around a cartload of crap.

Because, let's be honest here, most 17 year olds get drunk on half a can. 4 cans is them being daringly macho.

Well i started at 11, not quite 20 years later my estate car is really starting to look too small.
If my folks are going as well it adds a 4x4 and a large box trailer to accomadate their "home comforts".

So er.... definiteley category 2!

FireStryker -

We need SPOONS for the next event!

Just put it on the tab.

Right now I'm at the point where I just have my personal kit with some misc. gear...But soon will have 2-3 variations of kit for at least 2 periods, and may eventually end up with 2 kits for another period. Yikes! And to think you couldn't pay me to do this back in High School....Now I'm happy to get paid for anything to come to events other than paying for them!

Yeah...for some reason I can't find my spoons. We need to go over a list of minimums for folks to see who has what.

Andy and Jenn,
I donated three wooden spoons to Co. loaner gear last year. Ask Bob what became of them.

They're probably in the "event vehicle".

We need to get re-calibrated and organized again.
