I totally don't know about them! That seems too big to have slipped my net...seems pretty neat.

Although Murton Park seems to be heavily focused on kids, there are others cropping up that let adults do an intensive "Surviving the Iron Age" kind of program.

Seth,

What do you mean when you say "joining them"? Murton Park is not a reenactment group (as far as I know) it's an educational center with a farming museum, preserved railway and the Dane Law village.

The village is not what I would call top quality either and not all buildings are authentic (most are made with modern materials (plastic sheeting in roofs etc).

Suitable for schools, not great for experimental archeologists.

The homebase is in the process of building or raising a saxon section, which should be fun.

But mainly I shall be involved in the varying educational parts that they do , these involve living in various times on site or at a specified site. These include the WONDERFUL and CHARMING bolton castle.

By joining I meant that I shall be joining them for these said events. I am still, however, interested in looking for a fixed timeframe group around my area, that is more permanent.

Chiltern Open Air Museum and Avoncroft are a collection of re-built and restored old buildings with the odd speculative very early era edifices but are used by UK reenactors a lot as they can pick and choose the buildings to the era, in some cases.

the latter site is somewhat lacking, but the actual place is interesting and may still have fields and woodland to run around in. We used to practice off season with a local group and had many larfs.
