Greetings all,

My lurking days are over it seems. I'm new to this century, but not new to living history as I have been up to my neck in the 17th century since 95.
I am considering putting together a Bohemian impression for the Hussite Wars (1419-1434)and thought I would listen in on this forum to see what is out there for events and units.
Any thoughts/ideas/suggestions would be appreciated...
I sense that there is a good deal of risk here in investing a ton of money and find myself just encamped with my family (don't get me wrong- love em and they are great fun...) and I guess that is one of the things giving me cause for pause.
Despite the high degree of obscurity to the impression, it does have some cool elements like lots of crossbows and guns, combat role for women, "nobility free" egalitarian structure, shoddy peasant look.
And if I do this, I'll just HAVE to build a war wagon. Best of all, my lovely bride said I could, as long as I buy her a crossbow...what a deal!!
Seen Wolfe's Company at MTT for years now-YOU GUYS ARE SUPERB!
I "command" (yeah,..right..there's a laugh) the 17th century Scots Mercenary camp with the excellent piper just down the row from you.

Lee,

You might find this book useful:

Medieval Costume, Armour and Weapons
by Wagner, Eduard; Drobna, Zoroslava; & Durdik, Jan.
Dover Publications, Inc. Mineola, NY
0-486-41240-7 originally dated 1958, reprinted 2000.

It is filled with line drawings based on period art. Much is based in Czechosovakia -- at the very least it will give you great pointers for original sources. AND there are several pages of Hussite wagons in it.

Ron

Ron,

Thanks! I have it. I think some of it might be suspect, if only because it comes from figures in the art of the time and artists aren't neccesarily focused on the accurate depiction of background figures in painting a scene. Shame we don't have sattelite imagery from the time, isn't it?
