Hi Guys;

I'm obviously having a big-time attack of the dumbs.

I have a picture on my hard drive. How can i post it to the forum? The "Image" button seems to be assuming a URL, and cut-and-pasting into a message doesn't seem to work

Niel,
I ran into this too. You have to use your ftp to load the picture onto a website so the list can reference it. That seems to be the only way.
Anyone else? Did I have an attack of the dumbs as well?

Joan's right- the image needs to "live" on a server somewhere to the BBC can go access it and display it. (how's that for a kindergarden explaination of how the net works? )

Neil, I'm quite sure Jenn can help you out with hosting the picture if you send it to her.

If somebody could help with that, it would be very cool.

The pictures I wanted to post were a couple for the equestrian section (shots from the reenactment of hastings this weekend - slightly out of period but worth a look) and a couple of photos of the effigy of phillippe pot, grand seneschal of burgundy, for the general research section.

The effigy dates from 1493ish, and is in the louvre. It's a very, very odd piece - a lifesized armoured knight lying on a slab of marble, carried on the shoulders of eight four-foot high black robed monks.

I kid you not, it looks uncannily like the scene from Star Wars with C3PO being carried by the Jawas....

Neil,

if you email your images to me, I can host them in a directory on my webserver. Just make sure that they are either JPG or GIF formats. Once I upload them, I will send you the url and you can "link" to them in your post.

fire_stryker@hotmail.com

This is an alternate email address I use. Sometimes my home email get "fussy" and won't download images.

Hi Jenn

Thanks for that, 5 pictures from Hastings re-enactment are on their way to your mailbox.

For some reason I don't understand, I keep getting a rejection on the photo of the effigy - I'll try to rescan it, but it may take a while.
