Jeff and I are pleased to introduce our new destrier Leopold

Leopold is a 3 year old, 15.2 Clydesdale/Thoroughbred cross.

Although we can never replace Bella, we are very excited to have found Leopold, and look forward to resuming our reenactment activities with he and Petrus.

Good looking Horse! I love that combination of Clyde and TB! I noticed those slender legs right off, and this boy seems to really have the right "look" of the destriers illustrated from the period.

Congratulations, and may this lad fulfill all of his promise! He looks to be a fitting warhorse for your needs, and I hope that he'll become as much a part of your family as Bella was.

Cheers,

Gordon

I measured Leopold yesterday and discovered (pleasantly) that he's only 15.1hh, not the 15.2hh we were told. I like knowing he's a little shorter, especially since he still has a little growing to do. It means he'll top out perhaps a little less than we originally thought, which is a benefit for a 5'8" stump-legged, 29" inseamed dwarf like me.

The funny thing is, when I ride him, he feels like he's a full hand taller than Petrus, but he's only an inch taller. Go figure...

...of course all bets are off when I take Petrus across the street and he visits the fillies...
......he grows about a foot....in height, that is.

It's no wonder, as girls have the same effect on you dear.

And you're not a dwarf! Since I'm 5"3, you're just the right height.

Well, yesterday was Leo's first day at "Knight School" and he was a champ! Completely unconcerned about a lance waving around his head, the crack of the lance on the quintain, flapping flags and armour. He's learning to neck rein like a pro, and is just so eager to do the right thing. It will take a year or more, but he gives every indication of turning into a stellar tournament horse. What an absolute gem, we are so lucky to have found him!!!

My deepest apology their Miss. The hoss was directed to Jeff I guess that I was so stunned by that regal destrier to think right.
