hey all from Anne-marie

having done a bit of research on this...

for private events, ones homeowner insurance covers damamge to the property.

If Jeff runs over me with Bella my personal medical insurance would kick in.

for events open to the public, one gets into a whole nuther arena, and any insurance compnay would love to write you a one time policy for a chunk of money!

hope this helps.,. remember that each state is different, not to mention our canadian neighbors!

we have everyone sign a waiver all the same.

We had to have insurance for this last Bates' event and went through the "Old West Living History Foundation". They are a blanket org for reenactors and primarily provide insurance for participants, event organizers and vendors.

We got an "alliance group" membership for $325 which covered the event "named insured" certificate, non-member participants (the archers) and insurance for our people till the end of the calendar year. I know the policy is for liability if we hurt someone, but there are other benefits as well.

All told, it was a good deal. We'll probably maintain it from now on and it will only cost us $25 for each events insurance cert.
