I want to start researching the different orders that knights would have belonged to. I'm not even sure if my terminology is correct. But I was wondering what resourses are out there for finding out about the orders. As for time period, I am not being very picky over that yet. Any help would be appreciated.

A new thought. Was it less of an "order" and more like fealty to a certain lord?

After posting on another forum, I have learned that many of the orders were religious in nature. I have a good source now for starting my own research, but I am still looking for any information that any of you may have. Somebody? Anybody?

Thanks Brent for the input. I have begun to turn my attention to the 12th century. I've learned that when asking a question like this, time period is essential. If I forget, I am reminded . So, I'm sorry for being vague in my first post. After what I've discovered so far, I think I am going to enjoy this study!

Hi Eric,

Have you seen this link?

It's a good start to find out what's out there.

I would also recommend reading
"War and Chivalry" by Malcom Vale.

Fantastic book, containing lots of info on Chivalric Orders.
