Hi Jester,Welcome to FireStryker! I have seen the ordinance companies of Charles VII oft referenced, but I have yet to see the actual text raising them. This is a pity, because it is this standing force, and the royal artillery train under the brothers Beareau that were the trained & disciplined force that drove the English out of Normandy and Gascony, and brought the Hundred Years war to an end.
If it is any help, I can tell you the composition of a French Ordinance lance, it is 1 Man at arms, 1 custillor, 1 valet, and two mounted archers. It lacked the mixed arms of the larger (later) Burgundian companies of the ordinances (they co-existed with them in the 1470's), and there is no evidence for the cavalry element to have coordinated and cooperated with the "infantry" element of the mounted archers as a further contrast with the Burgundian system. The Ordinance companies were intended to operate with the Francs Archers, and hired mercenaries, and completely replace the feudal host itself.
