As some of you know I spend way too many hours pouring over the Web Gallery of Art. Well, this weekend a friend pointed me to a new site that is sure to soak up more hours of my life I thought I'd share.
http://www.artcyclopedia.com/index.html

This site indexes fine art image sites from all over including the Web Gallery. There are several different search options (I found Title to be quite useful to look for themes), and they have artists grouped by Movement and Nationality. I'm a bit amused the "Gothic" movement includes 5th to 16th century, but it's generally useful.

Oh, that was fun, I spent hours there!

Especially with Van Dyck, I love his paintings of Charles I and Henrietta Maria. Especially the one of Henrietta Maria with Sir Jeffrey Hudson. I've been fascinated for years by her fichu--looks like silk shot with gold, sigh...

I made a peach and black version of her gown several years ago.
