Hi,

completely new boy here, so please don't take any offence - I'm very impressed by the general tone of discussion on here, by the way, all seems very reasonable and polite compared to some of the stuff that can happen on some of the United Kingdom boards such as www.livinghistory.co.uk for example.

Have you checked with Roger Lankford, proprietor of Lancaster's Armouries (www.lancasters-armourie.co.uk ) who founded the Intermedieval Alliance now called InterMed in order to try and rationalise combat and safety rules for European wide medieval re-enactment - he is also edged weapons chairperson of the Early Medieval Alliance (umbrella group in the UK) - to such effect that there are now multi-national gatherings, for example at Terena Castle in Portugal.

He might be able to send you copies of the EMA and Intermed guidelines that you may find useful - adapt to suit, but it may save some time and effort?

Best wishes
David

Hello David,

and welcome to the board. No we haven't been in touch with Roger Lankford. It is an interesting idea, we'll have to touch base with him at some point.

We've recently hosted a small event in New England where some things were tried out with some success particularly with archery so it would be interesting to see how other organizations are handling various combat aspects.
