I'll look to see what I can find, I'm pretty sure it would likely have been suspended on leathers however.

Hi Eric,

Thats coming along very nicely! Do you have access to Boccia's Mantova? There is a series of reconstructions of line drawings of Italian harnesses in it, and I believe the Warwick effigy is covered. There is also a photo of the reconstruction in miniature the Royal Armouries has in it's collection.

I don't have a working scanner at the moment at home, but if you don't have access to this source, I can see if my wife could scan the pics in question from work and send it to you.

Hi Eric,

Well, the Metropolitan museum of art in New York would have the largest collection - I believe they have a composite Italian harness - exBashford Deane collection, as well as a number of individual components (and German harness as well) in their collection. That said, they are one of the more difficult museums to be allowed to handle or manipulate harness, although that can be arranged if you write to their curatorial staff and explain why you are interested (and include some of the photos of your work when you write them, so they know you are a serious armourer).

The Keinbush collection has a number of components, and it is located in the Philladelphia museum of art. Pierre Trajenian is one of the curators there, and a member of the ARS society, and if you write to him likewise, you could probably arrange a visit.

The Higgins museum has some components - only one composite 15th century harness on display, but they have some nice 15th century components in the reserve, although some are out on tour still (due back later this year, I believe). Again, write to the curatorial staff - Dr. Jeffrey Forgeng is the Paul Morgan curator. I happen to work as a volunteer at that museum, and I can speak to Dr. Forgeng for you, and you can be pretty sure to be able to arrange a viewing, and select handleing of some pieces. He is also a professor at WPI, so arranging a viewing is dependant on his schedule, but he is very open to this sort of thing.
