I like the look of the AT 1517 blade -- parallel edges for the most part, then a graceful curve to an awl point -- and I like the look of what Christian shows on his custom pages, but I'm wondering if anybody on this board has actually seen any of this stuff up close?
Comments, please -- this could be a christmas gift...

I should have added --
I think the style of blade I favor is classified (Oakeshott) as a type XVIIIb.
Longsword, fairly broad for the entire forte, and into the weak, then a curved taper to the thrusting point.

So what about the Fletcher custom work? I already understand that the Angus Trim blades are "functional" -- does that mean there are no makers marks, or what?
Thanks
--Kent

Angus Trim makes excellent swords. I own one. They have great balance and handling, but are not replicas of medieval swords. Christian Fletcher customizes stock ATrim blades, and is well respected for his work.
What is the sword for? If you want a good blade for cutting and practice, and want it to look better than one of Gus' very nice but workmanlike efforts, a Christian Fletcher upgrade is a pretty good choice.

Hi. I did own an AT1517 from Christian Fletcher, and it was one of my favorite ATrims. I'll be receiving my AT falchion back from CF tomorrow. It was a real pleasure to do business with Mr. Fletcher. Communication was excellent, and he sent regular in-progress photos after receiving the blade. I have owned and handled several swords customized by Mr. Fletcher and all were beautifully done.

I own a couple of his longswords and use them for rebated Fiore practice. You will not be dissatisfied.
