It is very nice !! What is the thickness of the sheet you use at the beginning ? Do you have to remove a lot of material by sanding ? What do you think is the final thickness after sanding and polishing ?

Benoit i use 14g mild steel i did not have to remove much i did a good planashing for the final thickness I have no way of knowing I do not have the necessary tool , Blanik it about 1450-60.

Has anybody already done a bascinet from one piece?

I plan to make one, in fact, I have just began last summer but my forge is not adapted to such a project (it's not a real forge...). I've just done the little sinking before raising !! So I decided to make a scale bascinet waiting the day I'll have a correct forge system to make a one piece bascinet.

Hi..Would you have a line drawing of the basic shape of the blank you used to raise the sallet? I would like to attempt (the key word attempt) one at some point..Thanks!
