Hello folks, can someone give me information on the bascinet below (or whatever type of helmet it is)? nullweb" TARGET=_blank>http://gallery.the-exiles.org/view_photo.php?set_albumName=weapons&id=aax[URL=null]nullweb page
I can recall having seen a similiar helmet (though not the same) which seemed to bring an end to the discussion if this helmet originally ever existed in that form or if it was a 19th-fake.
The text below the picture seems to explain about the time this bascinet was used - but I
doubt the conical form was still in use in this period. Does anyone know of contemporary paintings that proof the existance of this helmet in a particular time?

This is a type of bascinet of which 12 were found in the Chalcis hoarde.
They date to the late 14th or early 15th century.
There have been at least two or three articles written on the find, one by Ffolkes from 1911.

Thank you very much, Erik for your answer and information. I found a webpage containing the article of Ffolkes, and this article is also supposed to show pics but for a reason I can't find out the pics will not appear when I open that page.Do you know any other source that shows the images of those helmets? Are there any books about this matter?
